Some Old Friends....

(These pictures were nabbed offa various Barbie sites. Without permission, I might add. Shhh!)

Suntan Tuesday Taylor. Or, Mrs. Crickmore, pre-skunk and pre-Darth.

Hispanic Barbie, 1979. But I knew her as Vanessa Crickmore....

A 1980 Barbie, and the first of the Happy Birthday Barbies. I re-named her Mary Ellen. I still have that dress she came in, but it's pretty faded and the top is all stretched out. (I also just won this doll on an eBay auction... woo hoo!)

This waifish looking "Lisa" doll was an Americanized version of a Japanese doll, Licca... about an inch or so shorter than the Skipper dolls at the time. I'm trying desperately to find a similar one, but the red-haired ones are in short supply. This spindly-looking creature became Beth.

Beauty Secrets Barbie, also known as Sara. As a special bonus, dig the pink outfit... it was one of the few bits of actual Barbie clothing that survived my childhood... but just barely. So did Sara... but just barely. I need to see about having her hair re-rooted....

Kissing Barbie. She became Lavinia. She and Vanessa ended up with matching shoulder-length haircuts, too.

The Barbie Later Known as Becky. That yellow skirt was the special dress-up shawl that I still have... well, thanks to my beloved Husband-Type Man, I now have four of them! AND hats! And the jumpsuits! And-

This was the dress that Kissing Barbie came in, but my Barbies knew it as the "pink lawn" best dress, after one worn by Laura Ingalls Wilder (not that I knew what lawn was, mind). It looked smashing paired with that yellow shawl....

Back to the Barbies....
